Compress a video for Discord

Discord rejects anything over 20 MB on a free account. Drop your clip below and LimitFix brings it under the limit, so it uploads on the first try.

Where are you sending it?

Your account

Compressed on your device. Your video isn't uploaded.

Discord's file size limit right now

Free Discord accounts can upload files up to 20 MB (raised from 10 MB in August 2026). Nitro Basic allows 50 MB and Nitro allows 500 MB. Some servers with boosts allow more. We aim slightly below the limit so the upload never bounces.

If you see "Your files are too powerful", the file is over your account's limit. Discord doesn't compress it for you — it simply refuses the upload.

What LimitFix does for Discord

We aim for 19 MB on free accounts, keep the video as H.264 MP4 so it embeds and plays inline in every Discord client, and keep 60 fps for short gameplay clips when the size allows it.

Pick Nitro Basic or Nitro above the upload box and the target changes with it, so you don't throw away quality you've paid for.

Tips for gameplay clips

  • Trim to the moment that matters before compressing: every second you cut leaves more bits for the rest.
  • A 30-second clip fits in 1080p; a 3-minute one will be sharper at 480p than smeared at 1080p.
  • Clips from OBS, ShadowPlay and the Xbox or PlayStation share button all work as they are.

How much video fits in 19 MB

Approximate maximum length at each quality, including audio. Simple scenes compress better; fast action needs more room.

Questions people ask

What is Discord's upload limit without Nitro?

20 MB per file for free accounts (it was 10 MB from late 2024 until August 2026). Nitro Basic raises it to 50 MB and Nitro to 500 MB.

Why does LimitFix aim slightly below the limit?

Some apps count megabytes in binary units (MiB) and others in decimal units (MB). A small margin means the file fits whichever way it's counted.

Will the video play inside Discord?

Yes. The output is an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, which Discord embeds and plays inline on desktop, web and mobile.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. LimitFix compresses the video inside your browser, on your own device, so the file isn't uploaded to us or anyone else. The only exception is the optional cloud processing for Pro users, which you have to choose explicitly; those files are deleted automatically after processing.
